Basilica Cistern

It's a HUGE underground building made for holding millions of gallons of water. It was created 1500 years ago by the Byzantine Empire to provide water for the folks who lived in the area. There were several other folks down there with us but they weren't, it would have been quite spooky!

  1. With the planet moving toward a crisis in water pollution and scarcity, turns out this is 1500 years ahead of its time! We could use cisterns like this all over the world... how about one under Chapel Hill...
